Obverse: Classical mounted warrior attacking a fallen figure, symbolic combat scene.
Reverse inscription in Spanish: "GUERRA POR LA LIBERACION Y UNIDAD DE ESPAÑA 17 JULIO 1936"
Translation: "War for the Liberation and Unity of Spain – 17 July 1936"
Although the inscription is in Spanish, this medal was issued by Fascist Italy to Italian volunteers (Corpo Truppe Volontarie) who participated in the Spanish Civil War.
