Rare and original Breast Star from the Imperial Order of the Southern Cross, Brazil’s most prestigious imperial order, originally established by Emperor Dom Pedro I in 1822. This is a Type III version, instituted in 1932, awarded for exceptional merit and distinguished service.

Front Details:

  • Design: Radiant star with alternating gold and white enamel rays

  • Center Medallion: Blue disk with five white stars representing the Southern Cross constellation

  • Inscription: Latin phrase "BENEMERENTIUM PRAEMIUM"“Reward to the well-deserving”

  • Condition: Visible damage to white enamel on the arms of the star – includes cracks and chipping (see photos)

Back Details:

  • Maker's Mark: “Laroyale RIO BRAZIL” – noted Brazilian maker based in Rio de Janeiro

  • Material: Stamped “PRATA” (Portuguese for silver)

  • Pin Mechanism: Present but slightly loose – may need minor adjustment for secure wear or mounting
